After a long year we appreciate your support
What a strange year. From days stuck inside during lockdown to balancing the need to stay safe with the necessity to keep healthy and happy, we’ve all faced routes that haven’t been easy to navigate.
For many of us, the normality of putting on our kit and heading out often formed the highlights in otherwise forgettable months.
But while sport has provided solace during a difficult year, many of us have managed to find brighter aspects too. From keeping up with friends when it’s been safe to do so, to seeking out remote sources of motivation, or attempting private challenges, we’ve all learnt what matters to us.
Keeping on moving
Our community of athletes has been proof of this. Resilient in the face of difficult conditions, this winter our Move in Merino Strava challenge motivated 226,228 of you to complete 20 hours of activity throughout November - a feat which deserves a big congratulations.
Having worried if they’d be allowed to set off, the ashmei-supported On the Shoulders of Giants rowing team are now deep into the Atlantic - a position perhaps more of us now envy than might have been expected. Prepared for a 40-day crossing as part of the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge race, on new year’s day they’ll be around halfway through.
Holding to what matters
In uncertain times, we’ve also endeavoured to hold to our principles of fairness and sustainability. Remaining committed to equitable pricing and payment of staff and suppliers, we’ve continued to support the 1% for the Planet initiative, donating 1% of gross sales to help environmental causes. Using our own expertise, we’ve also instituted a new fabric produced from post-consumer plastic bottles, diverting them from landfill using an environmentally friendly non-chemical process.
Sitting on an accumulated store of ambition, we’re also looking forward to launching some long-planned endeavours in 2021. After a year when your support has kept us going, we want to say thank you and wish you all the success in yours.
