The Merino + Carbon composite we use in most of our garments is in a league of its own when it comes to regulating body temperature. This incredible fabric technology is not a treatment, but uses active carbon particles embedded within the fibre to capture and release moisture vapour before it turns to sweat, doubling the drying speed of our Merino.

The carbon particles are permanently embedded, meaning long-lasting performance while active carbon particles absorb and capture odour molecules to ensure the garments don’t smell.

  • 65% Merino Wool, 35% 37.5® Polyester
  • Cool wash at 30C
  • Wash dark colours separately
  • Do not use fabric softeners
  • Do not tumble dry
Crafted using our stretch Merino blend, the Men's Shorts have a next to skin fit.

Another winner!

Over the years, I have purchased many, many, many pairs of these shorts as they have changed through their various design iterations - when they wear out, I just come back for a couple more. To date, the only ashmei short I have not worn are the merino mesh version because I like the feel of the full length merino compressive inner. Having said that, it does feel like there is a little less compression in the current version 4 compared to the previous version 3 and the merino fleece of the last couple of versions does seem to wear out a little quicker than the original version 1. Still, though, a great product with fantastic comfort and feel - I can't imagine reaching for any other running shorts when I go for a run (also reflective, I guess, of the fact that I do not own any other brand of running short!). If I wanted to be really, really picky, I could say I miss the back pocket zip garage from the very early versions which helped keep the metal tab out of the way when doing floor based warm up and strength exercises. I also prefer the longer red / ashmei printed drawstring of the previous versions, too, but these are minor details which will not deter me from getting more ashmei 2 in 1 shorts when my current pairs finally bite the dust.

Running Shorts Review

So had these a few weeks now and I like them….they’re good to run in...but I don’t love them. And I kinda hoped I would for the price. Although I spent twice the amount I normally would they are no longer the pair of shorts I reach for first. When the weather starts to close in over late autumn and the winter they may become my preferred option; we shall see! The compression is good and they are light (the outer shorts) but I have a couple of observations which could be better: 1. the hem of the inner shorts is not ‘clean’ it’s a big jagged and so I suspect they’ll start fraying at some point (and if they don’t they give the impression they will). 2. The fit is ok but not great. 3. the drawstring could be longer - only 3 or 4 inches or so is exposed on each side (about half the length in the picture) on my pair and so it’s only going to be a matter of time before an end disappears inside the shorts.

Perfect workhorse for training

The quality of these shorts is top notch. The length is perfect for me and carrying a phone and a gel in the pocket I can't feel any bounce whatsoever. To be perfect I'd add another stretchy pocket to increase how much I can carry and probably make the outer short a little closer fitting.

I’ve been using these shorts for a few weeks now and they...

I’ve been using these shorts for a few weeks now and they definitely perform well above expectations. They are very lightweight and super-comfortable. The degree of compression is just right for me, not too tight, but enough to know it’s there. These are becoming my go-to shorts and I can see us enjoying many summer runs together. They might be a bit more expensive than others but their performance definitely justifies the additional cost. Highly recommended

I have wanted these shirts for a very long time and they do not disappoint. The are best running shorts I have ever owned. The are incredibly light weight and very comfortable over long distances. The compression is just right not restrictive but very supportive. Completely recommend. Worth the price.
