Following a first season sell-out, ashmei’s cycle-flavoured craft gin Domestique returns for a limited Holiday run.
We have teamed up again with our award-winning Chiltern neighbours Puddingstone Distillery to create a second run of our hugely popular cycle-oriented gin. With the inaugural two-hundred run quickly selling out last year, we are launching this year’s batch in time for the winter holidays.
Domestique Gin pays homage to the world’s greatest cycling tours, with the team at Puddingstone selecting botanicals such as French hops, Spanish orange, Italian rosemary, Californian raisins and Belgian Angelica. Once again, Chiltern rosehip, foraged from the estate on which we are based, adds a distinctive local profile to this delicious gin.
Ben Marston, Master Distiller at Puddingstone, commented: “After a great response to Domestique Gin in 2017 and its recent success at the 2018 Gin of the Year competition, it would have been sacrilege to not produce a follow-on batch to celebrate in equal measures all that is great about cycling and this quintessentially British spirit.”
For the cycling aficionados, Domestique comes packaged in a custom engraved stainless steel Bidon. Both a style and utility statement, the Bidon can be re-cycled for hydration purposes and adorn your favourite bicycle. Combining both traditional pot and vapour distillation processes, Domestique leads with a fruity, citrus and juniper nose and a subtle palate that blends sweet and savoury.
Stuart Brooke, ashmei founder, added: “Collaborating for another season with Puddingstone to produce a second batch of Domestique didn’t take long to agree upon. What’s not to love when you create something of such high quality – a decision made even easier when both brands share such a genuine passion for gin and bike culture.”
Produced in batches of no more than 200 bottles, Domestique was Highly Commended in the Classic Gin category at the Craft Distilling Expo 2018. Judges included distillers, Gin Guild members and leading gin bloggers. A lovely addition to an ashmei Gift Box, the gin is now available to buy here or as a pre-order at the new Chiltern cycling hot spot Musette Café. It is priced at £45 for 50cl and gift boxes start from £40.50.
