Where performance meets sustainability, the Merino, Capri length, 3/4 Winter Bib. This garment has been 36 months in product development to create the perfect fibre combination suited to endurance, deep Winter and early morning rides.

The 36 months in development starts with a blank piece of paper. We knew the product required a Merino Rich fibre to provide excellent thermo-regulative and anti-smell features, but also provide a product with high eco-credentials. We set out to develop a fabric that offered all of this but also offered excellent windproofing, water-resistance, durability and a next to skin fit. A complex engineering challenge.

The result is a highly engineered piece of kit, with the simplicity and elegance of ashmei design. The close to skin fit offers a semi-compressive fit which hugs the body, providing the perfect thermal micro-climate. When exposed to the elements, a PFC free water-resistant finish keeps raindrops at bay, while the close-knit of Merino Wool offers excellent wind protection. The upper body is made using our Merino + Carbon blend, acting as the first layer of core protection.

To excel over longer Winter rides, you will come to appreciate our bespoke high-density foam chamois. The chamois is also ideal if you are riding over the course of a week as the high-density foam doesn’t absorb moisture like traditional foam pads. This means you can wash your bibs at the end of a hard day’s ride and in the morning it will be as dry as a bone. This drastically reduces the chance of saddle sores.

To finish, the laser cut hem sits at the top of the Calf, below the knee, offering thermal protection in this critical area. Reflective detailing on the right calf enhances the rider's visibility when in urban areas.

Not being a fan of cold weather riding, because of these luxurious and toasty bibs I have been converted. The feel and fit of these bibs have made them my go to in the colder NYC weather. The compression is spot on – not too much but just enough to feel confident and the pad is very comfortable on long rides. Especially like the comfy fleecy backing, Bravo Ashmei – well worth the wait!

First off I live in SoCal (Los Angeles) and the typical morning ride is about 16°C (60°F for me). That’s as cold as it get typically and since I’ve purchased these 3/4 Merino Bibs I haven’t used any other bib since. The fabric is noticeablly thicker, but not bulky. I love the feel of the merino wool blend as opposed to other shorts in my closet. It keeps me warm but at the same time not hot. Since I’ve been stuck at home, I’ve had more time to ride during the week and I get a little lazy. I’ve worn these bibs three times in this week and just hung them up to air out after each ride and there is no smell.

I was worried that the fabric would get loose around the calf because it’s wool but nope, they hold their shape. The chamois is well suited for long days in the saddle. I love these knickers, waiting for Ashmei to make regular length merino bib shorts and a lightweight merino long sleeve jersey. Thanks Ashmei.

    P. S. I know some people love it but, I would be OK with the packaging coming in something simple. No box, just ship it in an eco friendly bag.

  3. Stuart Elvins

Been wearing these over the winter and really impressed. Fantastic bit of kit that feel real quality. The pad is super comfy and I love the snug but not tight feel of the fabric when they are on. Very well thought out item

  4. Henrik Schneidewind

On unpacking the fabric of the bibs feels unusual, so to speak a bit stiff. But it suprises during riding. It is very convenient and warmer compared to other 3/4 bibs I used in the past (often warm enough at the legs but to cold at the torso). Temperatures down to 3°C are not a problem with this 3/4 bibs. At the same time they were not unconvenient at rising temperatures – no itching or similar (to be exact: until now I was not able to use the bibs above 12°C). I did some rides as far as 100 km and the pad was comfortable enough.

I haven’t had a chance to wear these on the road yet but the fit and feel is fantastic. While not a big fan of riding in the colder weather, I’m looking forward to putting these to the test very soon.

a perfect bib. Very tight but also very comfortable. The pad ist very good. Interesting mix of carbon and wool, which works as it should.

And ashmei did it again: these Winter Merino 3/4 Bibs are a fantastic piece of kit that exudes quality and performs flawlessly.
From the compressive (but ultra-comfortable) fit to the well-known (and much loved) pad, they’ll keep you warm, comfortable and obviously stylish.
The highlight is the lack of “bunching” behind the knees, a common problem on heavier winter tights.
All in all this Winter 3/4 Bibs are bound to become one of your favourite bits of (ashmei) kit!
