We know we shouldn’t have favourites – we really do – because we know it is unfair to the other products. But the monochrome design of the Polka Merino Sock had us hook, line and sinker at first sight. This is not only a devilishly good-looking sock, it packs a punch in terms of performance too. Set to become a firm favourite, the Polka Sock, we think, will win the hearts and minds of both runners and cyclists. Where it really stands tall is the selection of fabric. It utilises our signature Merino + Carbon fabric blend, which is not only sumptuously comfortable next to the skin, but also helps prevent blisters and hot spots thanks to its excellent thermo-regulation and wicking properties. The hand-linked toe seam provides a perfectly flat finish, which in turn makes for a more comfortable run. Coming in at 6inches, the Polka Sock is built for both comfort and speed.

I love my polka socks! Aside from making you stand out from the rest of the running crowd, they’re super comfy on long runs. The material is quite thick but I never found my feet getting too hot in hem even on a warm summer’s day. The merino wool is great at resisting odours too so I can get away with wearing these more than once before needing a wash. The build quality is solid too.

I’ve been running about 30km/week and rotating 4 pairs of these socks throughout Australian summer and now into autumn, so around 5-6 months.
They’ve been great at wicking the sweat and not overheating my feet and now they’re doing a fine job keeping my toes warm on cool-ish mornings.
Great fit, very comfortable, good height, no wear on the toes and quality Aussie Merino wool.
Top marks there but recently one pair has started to rip on the inside seam (just below the ankle where the two grey panels join) and every pair is close to threadbare at the achilles tendon where my running shoes rub. My runners are showing no signs of wear at this spot (just checked then and loving them even more- pristine).
This makes me think these socks would be a great investment for cyclists but the wear and tear of running is much harsher on the wool.
If Ashmei designers are reading …
Is it possible to extend the sturdy grey wool area upwards by an inch or more? Would that sturdy wool wear better at the heel for runners?
That design might not suit the more stylish cyclists but you could then introduce a line of socks dedicated to the ugly runners :0
Also, could you include washing instructions with the delivery or add to the website? It seems like common sense to assume it’s a wool wash with wool detergent, but is it so?

Overall I’m fairly pleased with these socks but I did think that spending $30 AU per pair might’ve gotten me a bit further down the road.

Thanks Craig, we always appreciate and take on board customer feedback. Your comments have been passed on to the design team, and we are working on a ‘caring for your wool’ page for our website 🙂

I have run in two pairs of these socks for a little over a month now including two cold rainy runs. These were fantastic in all situations – dry and soaking wet. The seams and inside are very smooth and at least early indications that these will be great socks. Also able to run multiple times in these without stink. Especially nice when packing light on business trips

My favorite sock to date! It’s hard to get excited about socks but these are really very good. Great fit on the foot and around the calf, doesn’t leave rings on your legs when you take them off. Great for the middle of summer as you won’t get hot sweaty feet and then spot on for winter too as your toes will stay nice and toasty (until it gets really cold when you’ll always need a good pair of overshoes)
